Magic Pencil Illustration
Emily’s natural talent for illustration was first recognised at 4 years old. As she grew up her interest in art developed, studying art at A level achieving an A grade, and college where she got a distinction before gaining a first class honours degree in Graphic Design - specialising in illustration in 2004. Emily also gained ‘highly commended’ in 2003 for the Macmillan's children's picture book prize.
She lives with her husband Paul, and their 2 dogs in Birmingham.
Emily’s illustrations are drawn by hand with pencil, charcoal or ink – using a cute but quirky style, and coloured by hand, or digitally – with the occasional use of collage/scanned objects to add texture.
Emily has been working as an illustrator since graduation in 2004, where she was 'spotted' by Hallmark cards Plc at the New Designers exhibition in London. In 2005 she went freelance, trading as aptly as ‘Magic pencil’. Emily has since worked for many companies in the greetings card, jewellery, gift, publishing and packaging industries. She has a great relationship with her customers, providing a friendly, flexible and efficient service.
